Introduction to Polala Amavasya…
Polala Amavasya is a traditional Hindu festival celebrated with deep devotion, mainly in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra. It falls on the Amavasya (new moon day) of the Bhadrapada month and is dedicated to Polamma Thalli (Goddess Annapurna), who is worshipped for the health, safety, and prosperity of children. On this day, mothers perform special rituals and prayers, offering rice, pulses, and other sacred items to the goddess. Families believe that observing Polala Amavasya Vratam ensures protection from diseases and grants long life to children.
